INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR IMPROVING MARKET ACTIVITIES IN THE SHORTSEA TRADE

A study has been carried out for the Dutch government pertaining to supply and demand in the shortsea trade. Relevant information has been gathered through interviews and research into literature. The study found that companies operating in the shortsea market appeared to have difficulty in describing product market combinations in a quantitative way. Decisions are therefore made based on qualitative information, rather than quantitative.
