ASSESSING THE ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL TRADEOFFS OF THE PROPOSED DEEPWATER OIL TERMINAL
This paper reviews the onshore impacts of the deepwater oil terminal proposed for New Jersey. The potential economic benefit for a deepwater oil terminal must be delicately balanced against the existing and potentially increased public service and environmental problems of the onshore region. The range of information about construction-phase to long- run, and direct, indirect, and induced impacts must be expanded to achieve a more complete understanding of the economic and environmental tradeoffs resulting from this major autonomous enterprise.
