430T TYPE MARINE METEOROLOGICAL AND OCEANOGRAPHICAL OBSERVATION SHIP, SEIFU MARU

SEIFU MARU, the marine meteorological and oceanographical observation ship, was completed in January 1993 at the Tokyo Shipyard of Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co Ltd for the Japan Meteorological Agency. Thicker hull plates centred on the ship bottom have been used to ensure stability when the ship is under icing. The vessel is equipped with modern meteorological and oceanographical observation instruments for accurate and efficient observation. The principal particulars of the vessel are listed.
