DEFICIENCIES IN PRESENT METHODS AND THE NEED FOR FURTHER WORK
The paper examines the available methods of costing from the point of view of adding further facilities onto a basic cost categorisation to give different levels of detail as required. The need for the following studies are indicated: how overheads change in the long term, how engineering costs may best be allocated, how statistical crew-cost models might be made applicable to a wide range of organisations and perhaps extended to cover other times of day, week or month and shapes of peak, how the peak should be defined, and how revenue should be analysed and allocated.
