RISK CONTROL THROUGH QUALITY MANAGEMENT (FUTURE DEVELOPMENT AND TOOLS)
The evolution of shipping towards the present situations of crewing, management, ship's condition, the international reaction to disasters and other factors, presents opportunities for building effective management systems. The management function is applied as the means of control for the majority of objectives that an operator may have, in terms of ship safety, pollution prevention and effective running. The risk management concept is applied to develop management objectives, and identify areas of risk that need to be addressed. using well thought out objectives, a quality management system based on the International Maritime |Organisation's (IMO) guidelines, and the International Standards Organisations's ISO 9002, can be developed and put into practice for the benefit of the operator, the industry and society.
