ON THE ROLE OF PORE SIZE AND SHAPE IN STRENGTH-STRUCTURE RELATIONSHIPS OF CEMENT PASTES
Experimental strength vs. structure studies of porous materials such as cement paste, as well as theoretical calculations, show that various strength properties are sharply rising functions of the fractional solid material volume. The character of these functions has been studied for various cement pastes and compacts, and an attempt is made to analyse the structural causes of differences in the shapes of curves for tensile strength, compressive strength, and surface hardness.
