THE OFFSHORE AGGREGATE INDUSTRY IN THE UK
The increasing demand for aggregates to supply the construction industry has resulted in an expanding marine dredging industry, and sand and gravel dredging now represents some 25% of total annual supplies. This paper considers the history and development of offshore dredging, geological and technical considerations, licence procedures and problems, and the future of the offshore aggregate industry.
