THE STATE OF THE ARTS OF THE SHIP'S PERFORMANCE DEVELOPMENT AND ITS FUTURE PROSPECT
Ship performance development is carried out theoretically and experimentally. To effectively use experimental data from model tests and sea trials etc., the data is stored in a system linked to various kinds of performance calculation systems. Recent progress in theoretical methods have allowed calculation methods for wavemaking phenomenon, viscous flow around a ship hull, manoeuvrability and seakeeping to be used in hull form development. This paper presents the state of the art of ship's performance development including results obtained by Hitachi Zosen Corporation. Future prospects are also discussed.
