OPTIMISATION OF TANKER DIMENSIONS
The paper presents a mathematical model developed for a PC application, ship size designed to determine the optimum tanker dimensions for a particular route within precisely defined operational circumstances. Not only numerical data, but also graphs for optimum tanker dimensions, with reference to profitability, economy and maximum gain, are displayed on the computer screen. This is a universal model applicable to various purpose vessels and to different types of operation, with minor modifications. The paper has also verified an assumption, i.e. a vessel of a definite size operating on a fixed route may achieve economic results.
