CAMDIJK, THE WORLD'S LARGEST GRAVEL DREDGER BUILT BY IHC HOLLAND

The trailing dredger CAMDIJK was built at the Kinderdijk yard of IHC Holland for Cambel Agregats, the Belgian affiliate of the British marine aggregate company Civil and Marine. With a hold space of 5,510 cu.m and a maximum cargo capacity of 9,770 tonnes the CAMDIJK is the largest gravel dredger in the world. The vessels maximum dredging depth is 50 metres and in order to reach optimum production when dredging at these depths the suction pipe has been fitted with an underwater dredgepump which is driven by an electric motor of 1,240 kW.
