OLYMPIC SERENITY: A LARGE DOUBLE-HULLED TANKER
OLYMPIC SERENITY, built by Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Japan was contracted as a conventional single-hull crude oil tanker, however, the design was changed to a double hull configuration, to meet the owners wish to follow the U.S. movement in that direction, aimed at the prevention of marine pollution (The 1990 Oil Pollution Act).
