EFFECT OF SPEED AND DRAUGHT ON THE BOTTOM SLAMMING AND DECK WETNESS IN REGULAR WAVES
A set of experiments were carried out at the Hydrodynamics Laboratory of the University of Glasgow. A model of the container ship form SL-175 was tested in regular waves at five different speeds (different Froude numbers) and at two different draughts for various frequencies in order to investigate bottom slamming and deck wetness phenomena. Heave and pitch were the only two degrees of freedom allowed. It was found from the set of experiments that, to a certain extent, the occurrence of deck wetness and bottom slamming depend mainly on the change of the draught and speed.
