EVALUATION OF FLOOD RISK FACTORS IN THE DESIGN OF HIGHWAY STRENM CROSSINGS. VOLUME 5. DATA REPORT FOR SPUR DIKE EXPERIMENTS
The overall objective of the study is to develop an engineering systems analysis method to enhance the decision-making process in the design of highway stream crossings. This method applies economic risk techniques as well as standard hydraulic and hydrologic factors in the design of bridge waterways. Volume 5 reports test data from experiments with two types of spur dike models, logarithmic and elliptic, for two flow rates, 9.3 cfs and 5.3 cfs. For each combination, velocities and depths were measured along the model face and across the bridge opening. The other volumes of this study are: 1) Experimental Determination of Channel Resistance for Large Scale Roughness; 2) Analysis of Bridge Backwater Experiments; 3) Finite Element Model for Bridge Backwater Computation; 4) Economic Risk Analysis for Design of Bridge Waterways.
