THE CRYSTAL SHIPS

Four 'state of the art' reefer ships are now under construction at Boelwerf nv, Belgium for Cool Carriers of Sweden, they are: CRYSTAL PRINCE, CRYSTAL PRIDE, CRYSTAL PRIMADONA and CRYSTAL PRIVILEGE. The objectives of Cool Carriers R&D programme were to attain a cost effective construction with a simple design and a layout that permits easy cargo handling, especially as regards palletised cargoes. These 365,000 ft vessels are of single screw type and are designed to carry fruit, meat and cars in the cargo holds in addition to reefer and dry cargo containers on deck. Principal particulars are: propulsion MAN B&W 7S50MC length o.a. 131.25 m length b.p. 121.00 m breadth, moulded 19.60 m depth 12.85 m draught 8.85 m tonnage, deadweight 7500 t speed, service 19.6 knots container capacity 60 TEU crew 28
