OFFSHORE DEVELOPMENT USING MOBILE PRODUCTION SYSTEMS
Field development using mobile offshore production systems (MOPS) has become an accepted practice in the oil industry. MOPS are used to collect reservoir data through extended well tests, to provide early cash flow from major fields and to produce marginal fields. This article discusses the evolution of MOPS technology, presents some of the options available for MOPS configurations and reviews five major MOPS applications.
