A STUDY ON PROPELLER CAVITATION INDUCED VIBRATION EXCITATION
Because it is difficult to measure the source strength of a cavitating propeller it has become common practice to measure the hull-pressure fluctuations instead. Hull pressure and hull vibrations were measured for two types of propellers at eight locations above the propeller. Measurements were also taken with a ship lying idle at sea but with a hydrodynamic monopole exiter. Three data sets on hull pressures and vibration accelerations thus became available.
