THE ROLE OF VULNERABILITY ASSESSMENTS IN WARSHIP DESIGN

This paper addresses the requirements to perform vulnerability assessments, outlines some of the current computerised techniques which are being developed in the UK for performing vulnerability assessments and considers specifically how these techniques should be used and how they are being improved for the purpose of reducing warship vulnerability. Emphasis is given to the way vulnerability assessments techniques should be used in the process of warship structural design and systems integration. Future desirable developments are also discussed.
