COMPUTER CONTROLLED REMOTE TESTING OF MARINE RISERS IN THE ADRIATIC
As part of a research project on the dynamic behaviour of rigid risers for tension leg platforms, Agip S.p.A. of Italy will start extensive at-sea tests on instrumented risers from summer 1991. The risers will be supported from a specially designed unmanned test rig in the Adriatic sea at 70m water depth. A highly automated data acquisition system will be employed, which reduces the need for human intervention during the tests. Apart from the usual software packages needed, specially written application software will be utilised for identification of the environmental condition and selection of test data. The hardware and software used in the tests are described in this paper.
