STATISTICAL ANALYSIS ON THE RELIABILITY OF AN ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC SYSTEM OF CONTROLLABLE PITCH PROPELLER
This paper presents statistical analysis on the reliability of an electro-hydraulic system for controllable pitch propellers, based on service experiences aboard ships. Each of the three sub-systems, which are electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems, were analysed separately by means of FMECA (Failure Mode Effect and Criticality Analysis) and the fault-tree established. The general method of FMECA may be used for reliability evaluation for other systems as well.
