SERVICE EXPERIENCE WITH THE WARTSILA VASA 32 IN THE SSR ZANE BARNES

Electrical power on board the semisubmersible drilling rig ZANE BARNES is by two Wartsila Vasa 12V32 engines, each rated at 4,440 kW at 720 rev/min and two 8R32 engines rated at 2,960 kW at 720 rev/min. Emergency power is supplied by one 4R32 rated at 1,480 kW at 720 rev/min. The article reports on experience gained over more than 37,000 running hours since installation.
