ADDED MASS INCREASE DUE TO WAVES FOR SLOW DRIFT OSCILLATION OF A MOORED SEMI-SUBMERSIBLE
An added mass increase due to waves for a slow drift oscillation of a moored semisubmersible was determined by slow motion forced oscillation tests in waves. Its effects on both free oscillation in waves and slow drift oscillation in irregular waves are discussed. Little attention has been given to this. The added mass increase is significant for a semisubmersible, but less so for a barge or a tanker.
