ANALYSIS OF FATIGUE CRACK GROWTH BEHAVIOUR IN SEA FIELD AND ITS COMPARISON WITH INDOOR TEST RESULTS
In order to study a fatigue life prediction method for structural materials in a maritime environment, a field testing facility was developed to measure the fatigue crack growth rate of the materials due to sea wave forces. The fatigue crack growth rate test measurements, using 3.5% Ni-Cr-Mo-V structural steels were performed in cathodic protection and free corrosion environments. This study demonstrated that data on fatigue crack growth behaviour in an actual marine environment can be obtained using laboratory test data.
