STUDY ON MANOEUVRABILITY OF UNMANNED UNTETHERED SUBMERSIBLES
A method to numerically simulate the 3-dimensional motion of unmanned untethered submersibles was developed to evaluate 3-dimensional manoeuvrability. In the method, the hydrodynamic forces acting on the vehicle were measured for all modes of motion by use of model in the deep towing tank. The results of numerical simulation were compared with the results of free running model test, in which a variable vector propeller, called the Varivec Propeller was employed as a device for propulsion and manoeuvre and the agreement between them was found to be good.
