INVESTIGATION ON THE RELATION BETWEEN GEOMETRICAL PARAMETERS OF A SLENDER SHIP AND SOLITON-RADIATION CHARACTERS
The solitons radiated by an impulsively started slender ship advancing near critical speed in a shallow water channel with finite width are investigated. For studying the dominant parameters which govern the soliton-radiation characteristics, numerical calculation and experimental method were used. It is found that the relation between geometrical parameters of a slender ship and the soliton-radiation characteristics is very complex. the soliton-radiation characteristics for a slender ship depend on not only the so-called blockage coefficient suggested by Ertekin, but also the bow shape and the length of ship with same order of influence.
