SAMPLING AND TESTING MASTIC ASPHALT AND PITCHMASTIC USED IN BUILDING
This British Standard, BS 5284: 1976, prepared under the auspices of the Bituminous Products Industry Standards Committee, specifies the methods to be used to sample and test mastic asphalt and pitchmastic used in building. It is intended to supersede those parts of BS 598:1958 'sampling and examination of bituminous mixtures for roads and buildings' which dealt with these building materials. The scope of the revised edition of BS 598:1974 is now confined to the sampling and examination of bituminous mixtures for roads and other parked areas. But it is pointed out that some mastic asphalts and pitchmastics are used for both applications, and that in such cases whilst the methods of sampling may vary, it is not intended that different test methods should be specified. /TRRL/
