METHANE DERIVED ALCOHOLS: THEIR USE AS BLENDING COMPONENTS OF PETROL
This report summarizes the findings of a working party, whose two main objectives were:- (1) to examine and report on the state of technology for producing methanol and its homologues from natural gas, and (2) to examine and report on the state of technology in respect of the use of methanol or blends of methanol and its homologues as constituents of blends of petrol for use in motor vehicles. A summary of the main conclusions reached by the working party is given, but in general, it was considered that there was no proven technical case for introducing a blend of petrol containing methanol and higher homologues as motor spirit. /TRRL/
