HULL DAMAGE EVALUATION BASED ON QUANTIFICATION THEORY
Classed ships are repaired according to the degree of damage after class survey. Then the ship conditions inclusive of damage are described in the survey report in detail. However, it is difficult to judge objectively the soundness of the ships from the reports since it is due to a great number of different conditions. In this paper the damage data of hull structures from survey reports have been studied statistically. It is shown that the soundness of ships can be evaluated quantitatively by the application of quantification theory and multicriteria analysis to the data.
