FIELD MEASUREMENT OF JACKET MEMBER STRUCTURAL PROPERTIES
This paper documents a fabrication yard measurement program carried out to measure jacket member damping and end fixity. These parameters are important in characterising vortex-induced vibration response. The results confirm the expectation that jacket members generally have low damping, frequently less than 0.3 percent of critical. The data indicates a range of end fixities can occur, depending on member end conditions, with an average fixity of about 70 percent typically observed. See also the following Abstract.
