STABILITY, TRIM, SHIP CONSTRUCTION

The course consists of 609 questions and answers covering definitions and explanations of the hull structure and its components, and how to calculate vessel stability and trim using a series of practical problems which have been worked out as a guide for the student. More important, however, the manual provides the student with a better understanding of why a vessel is contructed the way it is, the stresses that can be placed on the hull and machinery by improper loading and shiphandling and how they can be reduced by proper planning and good seamanship. General questions on safety, repairs and regulations are included.
