RECOLLECTION AND PROSPECT OF THE DESIGN AND BUILDING OF FISHING VESSELS IN CHINA

This paper briefly describes the principal ship design of operational and auxiliary fishing vessels ever since the establishment of new China and the mass fishing vessels developed since 1953 in our country. It expresses the evolution of the characteristics in the design of fishing vessels and the gradual improvement in the more advanced equipment, installed on board of the same. Many fishing vessels have been developed into stern trawlers from the general type. Although ocean-going fishery starts lately, there are several tens in number that are operating abroad, benefitted with substantial effects. The development of fishery also promotes the national people's economy. To-day, a trend in the design of building the replacing, renovation and ocean-going fishing vessels for the new era to come is taken place in many design offices and shipyards.
