SIGNALING AND DISTRESS

The purpose of the International Code of Signals is to provide ways and means of communication in situations related essentially to safety of navigation and persons, especially when language difficulties arise. The various sections provide definitions, general instructions and detailed explanations of how to signal using flags, flashing light, sound signaling, signaling by flags or arms, radiotelephony, distress signals and use of the phonetic alphabet. The last section provides 66 questions and essay type answers for review purposes.
