ADVANCED PUMPMAN PROCEDURES
The manual is divided into eleven chapters providing a detailed explanation of the following: (1) petroleum and the basic chemistry of oil, (2) tanker construction, typical cargo piping systems and operating procedures, (3) loading procedures covering draft, trim and stability calculations and the proper way to lay out a cargo plan for the most efficient allocation of tank space, (4) reviews various types of pumps and their operation and provides guidelines for developing a cargo discharging plan, (5) ballasting and de-ballasting, gas freeing and venting, (6) measurement of crude and refined petroleum products, (7) tank cleaning, washing slop separation and further information on gas freeing, (8) pollution control, (9) inert gas systems and their operation, (10) operation and maintenance of duplex and centrifugal cargo pumps and (11) describes in detail the various types of pneumatic actuators used for controlling valve operation. Numerous clear, easy to read sketches, diagrams and tables are used throughout to illustrate and provide a better understanding of the text.
