CASE HISTORY FOR RIGS TO REEFS: A COST-EFFECTIVE ALTERNATIVE FOR PLATFORM ABANDONMENT
An 8-pile jacket in 238ft of water has been successfully "toppled" in place initiating the Louisiana Artificial Reef Program. The culmination of this effort resulted in the first monetary and material donation to the program and a cost savings for the operator. This paper outlines the planning, engineering, and salvage procedures used for this first "toppling".
