HIGH-PRESSURE GAS SWIVEL TO ENHANCE PRODUCTION FROM FLOATING UNITS

The use of tanker based Floating, production, Storage and Offloading systems has always been restricted due to the non availability of reliable and "zero" leakage gas swivels. This paper covers the evolution of high pressure swivels as well as the development and successful testing of a 6000 psi gas swivel, which is one of the key components to transfer gas through a weathervaning Single Point Mooring System. A reliable high pressure gas swivel has been completed, thus enabling the FPSO's ability to provide gas lift and gas reinjection functions for tanker based offshore production.
