TRENDS IN SHIPPING AND SHIPBUILDING

The decade 1978-88 has been a period of immense difficulties caused by falling traffic, surprises of capacity in freight markets and in shipbuilding as well as major transformations both in world economy and seaborne transport. Since last year a more optimistic trend gives hope that the depression has been overcome. In this article the Head of Transport Research at Kiel University outlines the reasons for such a forecast.
