IMPROVEMENTS IN CONSTANT WIRE FEED ARC WELDING SYSTEMS

The mathematical model and transfer function of the constant wire feed welding system are derived in this article using automatic control theory. Effects of the main parameters on system performance are found and discussed, and the optimum welding set output characteristic gradient recommended. Arc length error equations and the transient response of the system during disturbances are calculated quantitatively. A specific multi-segmental welding set output characteristic is proposed for improving transient response and performance of the system.
