LARGEST PASSENGER VESSEL BUILT FOR OPERATION ON GREEK FLAG SINCE 1952
The latest addition to the fleet of Royal Cruise Line is the largest passenger ship to have been built for operation under the Greek flag since OLYMPIA of 1952. She is the first ship to have been built in the new covered construction basin at West German's Meyer Werft; she has a unique propelling machinery. The geared diesel propulsion plant is a rare and refined example of a true "father and son" installation, in which the son engine is of an entirely different model and runs at a higher speed than the father engine. Main particulars of CROWN ODYSSEY are: class LRS + 100A1 + MNC = UMS; length, oa 187.74m, bp 155.08m; breadth 28.2m; depth to bulkhead dk 9.2m, depth to Marina (6th) 17.3m, depth to Lido (8th) dk 24m; draught, summer 6.92m; corresp. deadweight 3650t; gross measurement 40,000t; max. machinery power 29,000hp; speed on trials 22.3kn; passengers 1,221; cabins 526; ship's company 443. A number of new ship and passenger-safety features are incorporated.
