A TEMPORARY PROTECTIVE AGAINST CORROSION
A temporary protective has been developed at the Institute of the Plastics and Paint Industry, Gliwice (Polish Patent No. 130217). It is based on organic corrosion inhibitors, and is used mainly for the protection of steel beds at various stages of prefabrication and assembly of sheets, pipelines and structural elements not protected by paint by which should be free from corrosion products. This temporary protective can be used in the shipbuilding industry for the protection of pipeline systems and lubricating oil and fuel-containing tanks, hydraulic drive and control systems and marine engines water cooling systems. The physico-chemical properties of this protective differ from those of oil compositions and/or lubricants, providing an attractive alternative to other temporary protectives used in the industry. Details are obtainable from Polifarb Oliva, Marine Paint Factory, Gdansk-Oliwa, Poland.
