ELASTOMERS IN A HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT

The exploitation of oil and gas in deeper waters and more hostile environment requires greater component reliability. This article reviews the role of elastomers in offshore engineering systems, i.e. deck.vibration mounts, platform leg fenders, flexijoints for risers, and wellhead/downhole seals.
