NORDKAP CONTINUES YARD'S SUCCESS

NORDKAP, christened at the B&W yard at Copenhagen in July 1987, is the sixth in a series if products tankers operated by the Ugland-Norden tanker pool, which operates worldwide carrying mainly clean products but also heavy fuels and crude oil. Brief information is given on this tanker type, the CPT54E, which has cargo tanks designed for easy and quick cleaning; the recently announced Lloyd's Register ETCC (Enhanced Tank Cleaning Capability) notation, developed in association with B&W, will apply to such tankers. B&W are now building a further three in this series. NORDKAP's principal particulars are: length oa 228.6m approx.; breadth 32.24m; draught 11.58m design, 16m scantling, with 54,000/84,000t corresponding dwt; cargo tanks (100% incl. slop tanks) 90,500cu m; average speed at loaded (design-draught)/ballast condition 15.1 knots, with corresponding fuel (9700 kcal/kg) consumption 30.3t/24 hr, at 90% mcr.
