SHIP NOISE CRITERIA. DO THEY REFLECT THE PRESENT LEVEL OF NOISE REDUCTION TECHNOLOGY?

The issue of national and international codes on noise in ships which comprise recommendations for noise limits at various locations in ships is addressed in this paper. The rules and noise reduction measures are discussed in relation to noise in the engineroom and noise in the accommodation. Recommendations are made for measured to reduce present maximum noise limits.
