THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE TJCOS RESEARCH PROJECT ON STRESS ANALYSIS OF TUBULAR JOINTS
Several individual investigations on the behaviour of tubular joints in offshore structures have been carried out by different organisations, institutes and universities in China since 1979. To coordinate these activities, the Tubular Joint Research Committee for Offshore Structures (TJCOS) was established in 1983. Recent research work within TJCOS covers stress analysis, loading capacity analysis, fatigue analysis, technology of fabrication of tubular joints, etc. This paper reviews the current research activities in this field within China, in four parts: 1) theoretical work, 2) experimental work, 3) elasto-plastic and limit analysis and 4) remarks and recommendations for future study.
