STATISTICAL EVALUATION OF THE SHIP'S HULL CROSS SECTION GEOMETRICAL CHARACTERISTICS AS A FUNCTION OF ITS AGE

The corrosion wear of steel structures, the deviations of ships' main dimensions from their nominal values, and the cross-section geometrical characteristics of as-rolled steel plates and sections are treated stochastically. A mathematical model is developed on this basis for statistical evaluation of the hull cross section geometrical characteristics for any age of the ship. The various characteristics obey the normal distribution law. An example is given for a 25,000dwt bulk carrier.
