TOPSIDES WEIGHT REDUCTION DESIGN TECHNIQUES FOR OFFSHORE PLATFORMS

Weight reduction of offshore platforms enables considerable cost advantages to be achieved. A series of philosophies that forms the basis of a weight reduction design technique is presented. An example shows the weight and cost advantages achievable in the drilling facilities part of a platform.
