RELIABILITY AND HUMAN FACTORS IN MARINE ENGINEERING SYSTEMS

The application of reliability theory to marine systems will focus attention on the effect of human unreliability on operation, repair, and maintenance. Conventional codes of regulatory oversight are largely deterministic without hierarchical structure in terms of importance or probability. These problems are discussed.
