STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF SHIP MODEL TESTS AND TRIAL TRIP RESULTS TO IMPROVE THE CORRELATION

Model test predictions and trial trip results have been compared in order to determine the mean of the systematic errors in the predicted values of required power and propeller revolutions. It was found that the HSVA predictions of power were 7.4% higher than trial trip results and propeller revolutions were 2.3% higher. A comparison of 1978 ITTC Performance Prediction results with trial trip results showed that the predicted power was 12.1% higher than the full-scale results while the propeller revolutions were 0.3% higher.
