ANALYSIS OF A SELF-RIGHTING TEST OF A RESCUE BOAT
Investigations of the loss by capsize, of the almost new Danish rescue vessel RF2 in 1981, proved that the stability was substantially less than desired. However, the accident was explained as being due to bad weather conditions. The appearance of an amateur film from the self-righting test has renewed the question of responsibility. This paper describes the analysis of the film, which concluded that the test as carried out was no proof of stability.
