CONTAINER/MULTI-PURPOSE CARGO VESSEL ANNE CATHARINA

This new vessel built by Werft Nobiskrug falls below the 1000 grt limit, and therefore within German coaster rules as regards manning, but has a deadweight of 3000 t. A Schneekluth nozzle is arranged forward of the propeller above the shaft centreline, and a Becker rudder is fitted. The tank top and side bulkheads of the hold (which is double skinned) are dimensioned for the carriage of steel coils weighing up to 30 t; in addition the tank top is reinforced for the carriage of stacked containers weighing up to 90 t. A total of 267 TEU can be accommodated (131 below deck). Propulsion is by a MaK 6M453B engine rated to develop 1360 kW at 560 rpm driving a cp propeller through reduction gearing. The main engine is arranged for running at two fixed speeds; the lower results in a fuel saving of 14.7% for a drop in speed of 4% from 12.5 to 12 knots. At sea electrical power is provided by diesel-generator sets while the shaft generator supplies the thrusters and the refrigerated containers. Principal dimensions are Length oa/bp 90.00.83.00 m; Breadth 15.50 m; Depth 6.80 m; Draught 4.42 m. A general arrangement drawing is provided.
