GEERTRUID MARGRETA, THIRD OCEAN-GOING STERN TRAWLER FOR IJMUIDEN OWNERS
This is the third stern trawler built by Welgelgen/Harlingen of Holland for Kennemerland. Propulsion is by an engine developing 3,720 kW at 600 rpm, driving a cp propeller in a nozzle through a reverse/reduction gearbox. Heavy-oil separators are provided and there is one oil-fired and two exhaust-gas boilers to supply steam for central heating and for heating the bunkers. The electrically-driven trawl winch develops a pull of 400 kN at a winding speed of 58 m/min. Fish processing equipment is installed under the shelterdeck, and includes fish freezers with a capacity of 150 tons of fish/day; the frozen blocks of fish are packed in cardboard boxes and transported by conveyors and elevators into the refrigerated holds. There is accommodation for a crew of 32. Principal particulars are: Length oa/bp 90.20/83.00 m; Breadth 13.50 m; Depth 8.35 m; Draught 5.15 m; Deadweight 2,350 t; Speed 14 knots.
