OCEANOGRAPHIC TASKS AND TOOLS - A SURVEY OF SOME RECENT DEVELOPMENTS

A number of deep-sea tasks and tools associated with the exploitation of the deep-sea floor are described. The tasks include surveying for resource potential and offshore hazards, investigating metalliferous deposits, and studying the suitability of deep-ocean sediments for the containment of radioactive waste.
